AWARD
GAISCE ? THE PRESIDENT?S AWARD IS A SELF-DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR
YOUNG PEOPLE WHICH ENHANCES CONFIDENCE AND WELLBEING THROUGH
PARTICIPATION IN PERSONAL, PHYSICAL, COMMUNITY AND TEAM CHALLENGES.
GAISCE IS A DIRECT CHALLENGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF IRELAND TO YOUNG
PEOPLE AGED **APPLY ON THE WEBSITE** TO DREAM BIG AND REALISE THEIR
POTENTIAL AS GLOBAL CITIZENS COMMITTED TO THE SDGS. GAISCE IS
NON-COMPETITIVE, PARTICIPANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO CHOOSE THEIR OWN
ACTIVITIES AND GOALS WITH THE SUPPORT OF THEIR PRESIDENT?S AWARD
LEADER (OR PAL). THERE ARE THREE LEVELS OF THE GAISCE AWARD ?
BRONZE, SILVER AND GOLD AWARD.
BACKGROUND
GAISCE ? THE PRESIDENT?S AWARD are seeking to appoint an external
research consultant to conduct research on the youth justice services
in Ireland who are currently using the Gaisce Award. The research will
focus on:
* Provide opportunity for youth justice settings to test Impact
Measurement Guidebook, that was designed by Gaisce in order to measure
impact
* Gather feedback on usability, issues arising and recommendations
from youth justice settings
* Report findings and recommendations for consideration
In **Apply on the website**, Gaisce worked with Quality Matters in
order to develop an impact measurement toolkit for the Award in youth
justice participants and to measure the impact generated by the
involvement in its youth justice programme. While the toolkit was
designed prior to the pandemic, it has not been tested so part of the
research is to utilise the toolkit in order to assess suitability.
PURPOSE OF RESEARCH
The key research questions for Gaisce are:
* What are the outcomes experienced by young people, who are
completing a Gaisce Award and are in contact with the youth justice
setting?
* How much change is experienced by these youth justice participants
at, during and after achieving the Gaisce Award?
* How can Gaisce gather evidence that demonstrates the impact the
programme is having on youth justice participants?
* What ways can Gaisce improve its work with youth justice
organisations and maximise the impact for youth justice participants?
The research will be completed over a two-month period and completed

BUDGET

Consultant will be responsible for all tax, VAT and other associated
liabilities.
